✲ Oct 1-2, 12th Annual Depot Days
This former Michigan Central Railroad Depot is your first stop on the US-23 Heritage Route, a 200-mile stretch of Lake Huron's lovely coastline that runs from Standish to "the tip of the mitt's" famous Mackinaw City.
The depot is located conveniently on US23, in the center of Standish, making it the perfect place to stretch your legs, use clean bathroom facilities, find a
place to shop and dine. Open hours are stated below. We encourage you to explore the depot and gift shop where you will be greeted by our friendly volunteer staff, where you will find:.
The Standish Historical Depot features many train artifacts, depot memorabilia and local history photos and documents in its museum room.
We are proud to feature a restored caboose and two English passenger cars "from days gone by". These train cars provide a great picture opportunity when the cars are open to the public from May through October.
On September 28. 2014, the Depot commemorated the two Arenac County soldiers killed in action during the Vietnam Conflict. Two benches, one dedicated to SP/4 Lenus E. Mead (US Army) and the other to Cpl Alan R. Ott (US Army), are placed along the Depot's Memorial Walk.
If you love trains and depots, we urge you to become a Friend of the Standish Depot. By becoming a Friend, you help with the Depot's maintenance and help ensure its existence well into the future. And . . . or . . . you can help contribute to the future of the Depot by purchasing a Memorial Brick for the walk.
It's hard to be everywhere and see everything at our events but now you can have a second look on our events photos pages. Share this link to let people know what's happening "in your neck of the woods".
The Standish Historical Depot is always looking for people who have a little bit of extra time and would like to volunteer. Contact The Standish Depot and Welcome Center for details.
*NOTICE: The Depot is staffed by volunteers. We apologize for any inconvenience but, when we do not have a volunteer to cover the hours, we have no choice but to be closed for that time. We would love to have more volunteer staff. If you would like to help, please call us 989-718-3021.
